TCM Perspective: The Energy of Spring
By Neil Gumenick, L.Ac.
Springtime is associated with the element Wood. In traditional Chinese medicine, the Wood element represents the liver and the gall bladder. The liver function is called the Official of Strategic Planning, the grand architect for our vision of the future; this official sees the directions we must take to live our lives in harmony with nature. Its companion, the Gall Bladder Official, gives the ability to make decisions and judge wisely.
If we have followed nature's way and taken a winter rest, we too emerge into spring "raring to go,” with clear vision and a sense of purpose. This is the season to plant seeds for a future harvest, to look ahead and make new plans, formulate new ideas, make decisions, and determine our direction for the coming year - and to take action. Significant Study Showing Effects of EFT on PTSD in Veterans Published in Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease:
We're happy to report that an RCT studying the effects of EFT on PTSD in veterans has finally been published in the Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease.
We're hoping that this will motivate the VA and others to begin conducting large-scale clinical trials using EFT/EP for PTSD.

Mary Hammond to Present on Energy Medicine for Addictions at the 2013 National Associational Association of Alcohol and Drug Counselors this October:
Another milestone for energy therapies! Congratulations to former ACEP Board Member, Mary Hammond, for being accepted as a presenter at the NAAADAC Conference on "Powerful Solutions for Addictions Treatment: The Intersection of Addictions Medicine and Energy Medicine."
Debunking the Debunkers
UK-based ACEP Board Member, Psychoanalyst and Psychotherapist, Phil Mollon, PhD, DCEP, has authored an illuminating piece on the problematic rhetorical strategies used in literature that attempts to debunk cutting edge therapies (such as EP) as "pseudoscience." By disseminating thoughtful responses to the "niche academic genre of ‘pseudoscience debunking,'" ACEP hopes to stem the negative impact this has on true scientific enquiry into mental health applications that fall outside the current cultural paradigm. Please read and share with friends.
