ACEP Movers and Shakers

Stephanie Eldringhoff, LMFT, DCEP offered a one-day workshop at Bastyr University on the energy psychology approach she co-developed called the Rapid Relief Process. The training took place on March 8, 2014. Now the detailed planning begins to bring the CEP training to Bastyr University fall 2014.

Mandi Freger, MEd, DCEP is featured on the most recent episode of "Tapping with Joan," a community television series produced by ACEP member, Joan Kaylor, MSEd, LPC, DCEP. Mandi is the Educational Director for Highlands Hospital Center for Autism, which is a licensed private school, and oversees the Child Diagnostic Center. Under Mandi’s direction, Highlands Hospital has recently become the first licensed site now affiliated with the Cleveland Clinic. View the episode

Thanks to ACEP paving the way, EP is now being offered for APA approved credit by other organizations. Last month our Executive Director, Robert Schwarz, PsyD, DCEP, presented 3 one-day EP workshops in Maryland via PESI/CMI: Tapping into Energy Psychology for PTSD and Anxiety. He will be presenting the same workshops in the Los Angeles area this September. Bob is also presenting a workshop on Integrating Energy Psychology with Interpersonal Neurobiology in Toronto, Canada at the Winds of Change conference on April 24th.

ACEP Revealed: Key Member Benefits

Cracking the code with Paula Shaw, CADC, DCEP

As a new member of ACEP’s board of directors, I recently embarrassed myself with both Bob Schwarz and Debby Vajda. I was lamenting that the ACEP website didn't offer some particular thing that I was looking for…only to find out that it was already available…who knew?

Guess I should have done my homework. After I wiped the egg off my face, I took comfort in thinking that I can’t be the only one. We’re all busy and let’s face it…studying the ACEP web site and member benefits isn’t at the top of any of our priority lists. And yet, there are so many great offerings to take advantage of. So, to help you understand all the perks at a glance, we've created a summary page: Key Member Benefits. Discover all the benefits you have and where to get them on the website. For instance, did you know that you can list your workshops for free?'t forget to download the ACEP Member Logo for your website:

Just What is Energy Psychology?
Fred Gallo, PhD (the man who coined the term) revisits this question

It’s been 16 years since I introduced the term Energy Psychology with my book by the same title; however, actually I introduced the term in seminars that I presented prior to that time.

Some people have been concerned as to why I chose the term Energy Psychology, since it may restrict its usage to people with appropriate licensure.

However I would like to assure you that restricting usage has never been the intention and many professionals employ psychological research and principles in the course of their professions. This applies to not only psychologists and psychiatrists, but also counselors, physiotherapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, social workers, physicians, managers, you name it. Even attorneys employ psychological principles in jury selection, and politicians utilize psychological principles to win elections and to convince their constituents.... Read the entire article

ACEP Committee Corner
Membership committee update by Pam Altaffer, LCSW

Our committee feels alive and vibrant right now! Some committee members have come and gone over the past year, but we now seem to have a committed group of people.

Current active members are: Michael DeMolina, Joanne Karpinen, Rod Lind, Suzan Thompson, Sheran Mattson, Gary Peterson, Debby Vajda, Terry Lynch and myself. We have two brand new members: Dale Evens and Helen Bessler. Cynthia Joba, from ACEP administration has been attending meetings as well.

Our year’s major accomplishments are:
  • Established a working, fully functioning committee from a nonexistent one (past 2-3 years).
  • Created a Mission statement: To assist the ACEP board in improving recruitment and retention of ACEP members.
  • Created a job description for Membership Committee members and for the Chair of the committee.
  • Facilitated the networking luncheon event at the ACEP 2013 conference.
  • Recruited more committee members.
  • Updated Committee member information on the ACEP website.
  • Found two champions for the EFT and CEP workshops in Phoenix and Ann Arbor.
  • Helped to maintain stable US ACEP membership
  • Establishing the groundwork using "best practices" to create local ACEP groups in order to encourage networking, sharing of knowledge, skills and to create a sense of belonging and a feeling of an ACEP  "tribe" locally. This can be done in-person or virtually.
We would love to expand our Membership Committee participants. So, anyone who is interested joining our committee, please contact me, Pam Altaffer, at and I will tell you all about what we are doing and how you can contribute to ACEP.

FREA Seeking New Members

Robin Trainor and John Freedom have initiated a non-profit organization called FREA (Facilitating Recovery and Empowerment from Abuse) in order to teach innovative EP techniques to help people heal from sexual abuse and domestic violence.

The FREA Vision includes: collecting and disseminating information on EP modalities for treating abuse; creating two websites, one for survivors and one for therapists and responders; setting up training programs for responders; networking with domestic violence and rape crisis shelters; and networking with sister organizations.

Collective Healing: Moonlight
Courtesy of Mary Hammond

Wherever you are in the world nighttime brings in the presence of the moon. Tonight where we are it is the time of the full moon and several ACEP members are gathered. It is a yellow orange moon that fills the sky and demands that its beauty be honored. As we circled for ceremony it occurred to me that the Light of the Moon connects us all. As you gaze at the moon from your part of the world tap into the power of the light to connect our healing energy and increase it exponentially to offer strength to one another, healing to our clients, wisdom to our students, and collective healing to the planet.
