Erika Neil is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who helps clients overcome the limiting effects of trauma and other difficult life experiences so that they are free to live the life they want. She has specialized training in the treatment of trauma, managing stress and difficult emotions, and strengthening positive emotional states. Erika is a certified Havening Techniques® Trainer. She was trained by its creator Dr. Ron Ruden and was the first certified Havening practitioner in the Washington, DC area. Erika is also trained in EMDR (Eye–Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction), Reiki, Quantum Touch, Somatic Experiencing, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and the Flash Technique. Erika emphasizes mind-body awareness practices to increase capacity and resilience. Prior to becoming a social worker, Erika was a lawyer for abused and neglected children in Washington, DC. She was also a school social worker for fifteen years in Northern Virginia. Erika's style is collaborative, warm, and solution-focused. Erika is the co-founder of Humanitarian Havening and the co-author of Auntie Rosa's Magic Hugs: A Story about Havening and Safe to Be Me: Havening for Teens and Young Adults.
